Juniper :)

Standard

Hi there everybody 🙂

I hope everyone is well today. Things have been a little all over the place lately, (sometimes I wish I could revert to my super organised nine year old self!) but I am so proud to show you my latest creation; Juniper Faery the Fairy!!!

 Juniper 8

She is made using the crochet style amigurumi and is guaranteed to brighten up any one’s day. Mr. Art Badger has written all about her and you can read that by clicking http://moonofarann.com/2014/07/09/juniper-faery-the-fairy/

I really enjoyed designing and making Juniper, and one of the hardest parts personally, was Juniper 5stopping myself from making the design too complicated! I started off by using some graph paper (5mm square) to work out the basic shape and number of stitches, and then wrote out a draft pattern. Lots of times along the way I wanted to increase here, or decrease there, thinking that the piece wouldn’t be big enough, or the shape wouldn’t be right, but I persevered with my original notes and turns out that about 90% of it was bang on 🙂 Of course I did have to alter some elements, but I found having an actual 3d first draft already made, made this process much much easier.

I think in the future this is the way I will design all of my pieces. I have tried just picking up my hook and yarn, with an idea in my head and winging it, but that process doesn’t seem to work out for me and only leaves me deflated and frustrated 😦 Being still relativity new to crochet and amigurumi I would be really interested to hear how any of you design your pieces? Do you work out every detail first, or just dive straight in and work it out as you go? Feel free to leave a comment below, or either on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/moonofarannamigurumi or Tweet me @HlovestheMoon. I would love to hear your methods and ideas and what works best for you and why 🙂

And so it begins.

Hey there! My name is Heather aImagend I have started this blog as a companion blog to http://www.moonofarann.com my other website. I have recently discovered the limitless world of amigurumi; the Japanese style of crocheting creatures and basically anything your imagination can come up with! So my imagination has come up with a whole world, inhabited by all manner of weird and wonderful beings!

My aim for this blog is to document my journey from initial thought conception through to (hopefully) the finished product and everything else in between. I hope that anyone reading this gains as much pleasure from reading it as I do from writing it and that if you have some free time, you can stop by and take a step into the magical world that is Arann, where Badger’s talk (& have Twitter accounts!) fairy’s flutter about and strange and mythical creatures go about their daily lives, unaware that they are strange and mythical 🙂
